I confess that I left out the eastern countries. There were only six results, five of which were based on <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a>. Whether <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Arch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Arch</span></a> <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Debian</span></a> or <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a>, how strong or extensive is the American influence anyway? Isn't it more about individual software or services themselves, such as <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> or <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a>? <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> and its <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> should of course be banned in principle. But as an <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/ArchLinux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ArchLinux</span></a> user, should I change my system because of this?</p>

It's not as if all Linux PCs need licences that someone can tot up. Two of the last three machines I bought came without operating systems, and I slapped <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> on them. I have a machine that came with a <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> licence in 2009, and that now runs Fedora as well.</p><p>My hunch is that Linux is under-represented in numbers like these.</p>
