Squirrel on the Roof

This morning, I stepped out the backdoor and spotted a little eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) sunning itself on the roof of my backyard shed. It must have leapt there from a nearby tree, perhaps drawn by the warmth of the roof. The chilly morning air made it the perfect spot to soak up some heat.

My photo gallery features over 1,100 carefully selected images. While most are chosen for their visual appeal, a few stand out as novelty shots. Feel free to explore my gallery at:

Starling.

This common bird is red listed in the UK, having seen long term declines. The breeding population in the UK has seen a 54% decrease between 1995–2022. This particular bird was alone and searching through the straw for food (usually invertebrates).

The inspiration for this handmade watercolor painting comes from a visit to Hochfelln in the Bavarian Alps in Germany on a beautiful sunny late summer day where the surrounding mountains were gently bathed in various shades of blue.

Good morning. 😴😫☕

I think I'll start going for walks as soon as I wake up in the morning. Maybe it will help me feel more alert when I come here to start writing to you. I'll begin tomorrow. Tomorrow always seems like the perfect time to tackle anything. When tomorrow becomes today, there’s always another tomorrow waiting just beyond. It's funny how time works, isn’t it? Every present moment is but an ephemeral flicker, disappearing before you can fully grasp it, leaving only memories of what once happened around you. Speaking of time, I forgot to mention—you can't do anything yesterday. If you could, it would already be done. Have I managed to confuse you yet? Because I think I’m doing a pretty good job confusing myself!
