A2 It has to be polymer clay. I’m very pleased with it as a creative medium (although it is plastic). Here’s my tiled hearth now baked and ready for the house. #No52 #DollsHouse

Janet here. All my makes are #fun because Dolls Houses are fun. But I think a particularly amusing make was Mrs MacGregor’s drawers and her chanty cover. That’s the word she uses for ‘chamber pot’. It’s a long way from her room to the ground floor bathroom in the middle of the night so she keeps a chanty for herself under her bed. #No52 #DollsHouse
Progress report.
I still haven’t had the courage to glue this together but the pieces are coming along. Even then, I can’t glue in the Fimo until the wood is finished properly. I made a second larger oval and glued it round the first to make beading. I’m also not sure if I can improve the tiny variation in the outside edges of my rows of tiles. Using 3000 wet/dry sand paper but I think once it is all mounted no one will even notice it.

Tried glazing my tiles with UV resin. Seems to be working. I heated the resin slightly to make it thin enough to be glaze. #No52 #miniatures #DollsHouse 1/3

Plus a little stand I knocked up from cast sprue offcuts.

I have acquired a Tri-ang style dolls house in need of some TLC.
I also have a people's house to sort out so not sure how or when I'll get to doing up the one just for dolls

DISASTER! It was all going far too well. My fire surround broke when I took it gingerly off the greaseproof paper -working on a fix. I have cut out tile indents and am refilling using liquid Fimo as glue! #Fireplace #PolymerClay #Dollshouse #No52 #WIP

I also made a fan-shaped centre tile but it is too big so I am going to make another. I think knitting takes a lot of patience because you can’t see what it will look like until it is done. #MakersHour But then I have just spent 9 months making a dozen Fimo tiles… so maybe actually I have a fair bit of patience for a lot of things. I’m also very patient with people (necessary in my job). #dollshouse
Coming along, I glued in my first panel of veneer and then this afternoon I was mostly sanding fireplace pillars … as you do.

@MakersHour A2 I think the #dollshouse has a style. It’s quirky and pulls together a lot of Scottish architecture and design. A good example would be my Charles Rennie MacIntosh inspired kitchen chairs with tartan seat covers. #MakersHour
A dry fit on a piece of graph paper. My art deco one twelfth scale fireplace is coming along. The tiles can be trimmed and sanded before setting so don’t worry about the wobbly bits. I am feeling the choice of blue is very much the right thing for the era. The hearth needs a bit more thought but the idea is there. #No52 #DollsHouse #miniatures
This one uses six tiles, with green tiles between. Please excuse the terrible sketch, but sort of like this

Ta Da! Lots of tiny tiny #tiles, now baked, some for the side of my fireplace and some to go across the top. Only the best will end up in the fireplace. The compilation begins!! #No52 #Fireplace #miniatures #DollsHouse
PS I thought the UK 20p better for scale than a ruler, but for our USA friends these are just under half an inch square, and the narrow ones just over a quarter of an inch wide.

@Maker_of_Things made the doors for #No52 and @suearcher painted Frank’s camel and gave Mrs MacGregor her rolling pin. She has put it down in this picture to examine some flagstones for her kitchen floor. #dollshouse #No52

Separated windows are currently being matched to their window frames! By some miracle I only seem to be missing a couple… I’m thinking old Over Head Projector films for pseudo glass then new hinges galore! (Some might also need a new lick of paint) #dollshouse #no52 #project2025
I made a mushroom house. It's kinda based on one posted in Maybell Eequay's comics a few months ago.
Leaves are fake, I made them so they will forever be fresh and bright.
