Arrived at the plot at 10am. Decided to get rid of the outside greenhouse enough of it, though I have the parts. Sort of.

Emptied 2 sacs of soil on the spuds area, moved half a dozen wood pieces, ready for the fire....

Found the fedeer empty, birds have discovered the way to remove the perches, in metal, from the plastic tube. Seeds poured out and were eaten.

Windy now, 24C in the glasshouse, filled in some gaps in the frames so as to reduce draft.
.
So far so good.

#swfleaglecam M15 guarding his territory. There were intruders the other day and they kept returning to the nest tree. Usually, M and F chase off intruders and that’s the end of it. This one wouldn’t give up. Unsure what happened, but M returned to the nest after one altercation with blood on his stomach feathers and beak. He’s fine, so we can only assume he got the best of the other eagle. #birds #nature

Here is my Project Feeder Watch data for week number 20 this season.
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had 23 species & 101 individuals this time.
We finally have sighted our first American Robin of the season. He's currently picking up scraps under the suet feeders while waiting for the earthworms to wake up. The Red Winged Blackbirds are still hanging out with the Grackles. Still a lot of Juncos, but they'll be leaving soon

data.feederwatch.orgProject FeederWatch - Count Summary

I'm a couple of fields away from home, at the next farm, an easy walk to get to where I'm repairing a wall.

For about a week now, a flock of starling several hundred strong has been feeding on the soft wet soil. They're constantly on the move, covering two or three miles up and down the dale each day. They've just spotted me so they're off again.

There's also good numbers of Lapwing and Curlew on the wing and calling.

Ready to Strike

The dogs took me for a walk this morning. I started to take my camera, but I didn't. It turns out that I needed it and didn't have it. There were lots of little birds about. If I'd had my camera, I might have captured an image of a species that I haven't photographed before. Oh well, here is a nice image of a snowy egret (Egretta thula) hunting in a tidal pool at Gulfport, Mississippi.

Using the Force (and a bit of charm), I'm guiding you to my photo gallery at:
